A warm welcome from our Head Teacher:

I am delighted to welcome you to The Bishops’ Church of England Learning Academy website which I hope will provide insight into our vibrant, creative and nurturing school located on the southerly edge of Newquay in Cornwall. Our mantra is for our school community to, ‘Have faith to Belong, Believe, Aspire and Achieve’ in everything we do.

Our foundation is in the church and we strive for all our children to flourish: "If you have faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it would move. Nothing is impossible". Matthew 17:20.

We are committed to ensuring that our children thrive during their time at The Bishops' and that they are instilled with our Christian values of perseverance, compassion, respect, forgiveness, trust and courage to be ready for whatever challenges come their way.

At Bishops’ the children come first, this is reflected in everything we do.  We believe in inspiring pupils to move their cutting edge of learning into their 'challenge zone' and become a 'boss of their own learning' through our staff as facilitators, teachers and negotiators to encourage and challenge the children to be life-long learners.

Safeguarding Information

At The Bishops’ we take child protection and safeguarding very seriously. All our school staff including senior leaders, teachers, support staff, office staff, mid-day supervisors, cleaning staff and office staff, undertake Child Protection/Safeguarding training which is updated through the year. Our regular supply staff have undertaken training with us and our Governors also attend child protection/safeguarding training. Prevent Duty training is part of the ongoing safeguarding training for all staff, raising awareness of signs and indicators of radicalisation and how and when to report concerns to the Channel programme. Members of the Leadership and Governors have completed “Safer Recruiting” training and are part of the process in recruiting new staff.

All staff and Governors have DBS checks. All students and volunteers have an induction which includes information about safeguarding and child protection.
